If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should apply for the Communications Specialist position at Amazing Discoveries. We have more than one position available in this area. May consider remote position, however, we are mainly looking for on-site staff. 

The Communications Specialist communicates to supporters, the public as well as internal staff and plays a key role in the Ministry with forward-facing content and in keeping everyone up to date. This is a real service position as the work performed directly reflects on the public and provides a favorable impression for the Ministry. 


Primary duties include:

Writing - policy/procedures/manuals, blog posts, letters, marketing text in various forms, TV ads/scripts/voice-over

Editing & Research - books, magazine articles, podcasts, online articles, reports, policy manuals, web text etc. Includes typesetting & proofreading

Website Support - upload & update online articles, videos, featured banners, blog posts, minor search engine optimization, etc.

Advertising - assist with simple fundraising and advertising campaigns, as well as public relations events



Skills/Requirements:

  • Degree in marketing and/or communication preferred 
  • Advanced writing, editing, verbal communication skills
  • Excellent proofreading & editing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Products, as well as HTML
  • Suggested proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other programming languages
  • Asset: experience with technical writing
  • Strong computing skills / Technical ability to navigate web interfaces 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete them successfully on time
  • Personal: has a close relationship with Jesus Christ, sets a good example for others, and has a good understanding of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, follows the Spirit of Prophecy
  • Ability to work in an organized manner
  • Willing to work additional hours if necessary to get the job done
  • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects or unusual situations
  • Self-starter - able to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Vehicle & driver's license mandatory.
